Chiming in for those who, like myself, value the opinions of others before purchasing. I was looking for something big so I could move my old Panny 50 inch LCD to a bedroom, and I finally decided (after weeks of going back and forth) on the WD73738 through Amazon rather than trying to get this home myself from a brick and mortar store. It is definitely priced right as a 2010 model and has the features I was looking for. Pilot was a few hours late on the scheduled delivery, to be honest, but the TV (from Walt’s through Amazon) was absolutely fine as the box didn’t even have a dent. Ordered on a weekend and had it 8 days later.. not bad at all.

It’s a beautiful looking set. No wasted space around the screen. It’s all screen in the front, up top, which I love. This has PLENTY of picture adjustments for you to play with, and you can even get it calibrated professionally if you so choose. I will tweak it more once it gets a bit more use (only 3 days so far), but after the things I changed already I am amazed at how crisp the picture is despite the screen being so big. HD is stunning, plain and simple. Watching a blu-ray on this thing (with Sony BDV-e370 player and surround system) is a fantastic, theater-like experience. Not sure about the sound from the actual TV itself as I don’t plan on ever using the TV speakers. Picked up a pair of DLP-LINK glasses (True Depth) and they work wonderfully with it. A college football replay on ESPN3D the other night from my viewing distance (about 11 feet) has me licking my chops for more 3d across the board. Make sure your box (I have FIOS) is outputting 720P for 3d. I had my box on 1080i because of the old TV and 3d wasn’t working. Hopefully FIOS’s promised firmware update to fix this problem will come son.

Make sure you have room for this one. The box is really, really big but protects the set nicely. I have it on the same wooden stand I had the Panny on, with only a few inches overhang on both sides. It’s in a corner, so I’m not worried about anything happening to it. Firmware upgrades immediately upon plugging it in to your home network. PC display is crisp as well, though there are thin black bars around the entire picture when I use the 1080p compressed setting built in to the TV. Tried to custom set a resolution to fit the entire screen (as it’s too big for the screen if I don’t compress it) based on reading some threads about the issue, but the TV doesn’t support them. So I’ll play around with that and I might have to upgrade the video card as it’s an older model. But as for the TV itself, if you are debating this one, don’t hesitate. Pull the trigger. You (and others) won’t believe you scored a set like this for the price, delivered, that these sellers on Amazon are offering. I love this thing, and if it’s as durable as I hope a DLP will be, I’m going to be enjoying it for quite awhile. See more review here…
